SERVERS & CONNECTION INFO

Connect to Fleetchat IRC using our default:
irc.fleetchat.org
However, if that doesn't work for you, then trying linking directly to
one of our servers. Please note that if you connect directly to a
server and that server is down, you won't get onto Fleetchat. That's
why we suggest using our default of irc.fleetchat.org
greatlakes.fleetchat.org
songahm.fleetchat.org
All connections are port 6667
Set your connect time (if available) to 45-60 seconds.
Then from there, just type: /join #<channelname>, where <channelname>
is obviously the name of the channel you want to join, sans the
brackets. For a listing of available channels, consult the "Channels"
Page.
For browser-based enjoyment of our IRC network, please point your
browser to:

Note: This Java-based application requires Netscape 4.xx or Internet
Explorer 4.xx or better.
If you are a Web TV User, here are two sources
of information that will help you connect to our service:
For those of you on AOL, here are instructions
courtesy of Hugo Costa, Jr. (costaems@aol.com):
Step 1. On AOL go to the software section (Keyword
"Software"). In the Software section do a file search for
" mIRC ". When the list of files comes up (huge list) choose
the file called mirc56.exe. It's a self-extracting zip file. Download
this file.
Step 2. Read above for the list of "IRC Server" sites.
Step 3. Setting up mIRC. NOTE! On AOL, we CANNOT use the 32-bit
version of the software. The mirc392 file you downloaded earlier has
both the 16 bit and 32 bit version. To start the software you want to
double click on the "mirc.exe" file, NOT the mirc32.exe
file.
Step 4. Once in mIRC, Go into File, Setup. You'll now be in the
Setup screen. You'll see open spaces below for "Real Name"
(Type in your real name here), "E-mail" (type in your e-mail
address usstriumph@aol.com); "NickName" (Type in a nickname
to use in the chat channel ie; triumph-co etc.) "Alternate"
(an alternate nickname incase your first choice is in use)
Step 5. Once this is done clip on the "Add Server"
button near the top right of this setup screen. Now you're in the mIRC
Add Server screen. In the "Description" box you can type in
"Starfleet" (or anything else you want to remind you this is
the Starfleet IRC channel to log on to); Under "IRC Server",
type in the address of the server you got from the Starfleet web page.
.
Step 6. When Step 5 in done click on the "Add"
button. This brings you back to the setup window. Click the
"OK" button here. This brings you to the main mIRC screen.
Step 7. Start up AOL. Once online with AOL, minimize it and get
into your mIRC main screen. Hit File, Connect, and the system should
go through the passes of logging you onto the IRC Server. Once
connected, click on the 5th icon from the left, a "List
channels" icon. It will ask what channel you want and then type
in "#starfleet". You should then be in a chatroom similar to
an AOL chatroom. Other people in the room will be listed by their
Nicknames on the right.
